About Us
Behind the name
We often get asked about our name. If you aren't a fan, you may not know the guild was named after the American television show METALOCALYPSE on Adult Swim. The Founders all share a similar taste in humor and love for metal so naturally The Metalocalypse was suggested. In the end, we chose it because we felt it accurately represented who we wanted to be as a guild:
PRIMARY GOAL: to pals around -- Above all else, we want to have fun. Whether it's slaying dragons or annihilating alliance, it's always more enjoyable in the company of friends. For $15 a month, we damn well better be having a good time.
SECONDARY GOAL: to be brutal -- Success and happiness as a guild go hand in hand. We want to have characters we're proud of and progress as a team. Whatever the pace may be, just as long as we're moving forward.
History
In early 2010, Critolis, Ripp, Tunkor, and Tromel found themselves drawn back to World of Warcraft after years of being retired raiders. With fond memories of end-game content in Classic, we longed for the endless slaying of internet dragons, but we wanted more than that this time.
Our vision was to progress in a relaxed environment without neglecting real life. In addition, a community with zero tolerance for elitists, drama, and toxicity. We believe every member is a gear that powers the great machine that is the guild; every gear is as important as the next, and as such, should be treated with respect. So around the ides of May, we started our journey on Horde side of Undermine. Since then, the guild has grown to a close-knit community of like-minded mature adults.
When we first started raiding, we were only a small group of friends and regularly hosted old content runs open to the server. While getting ourselves established as a raiding guild, we began with a little of Naxx and Ulduar and later cleared ICC. That was back at the end of Wrath when TM was a casual group.
Later we evolved into a much more progression-focused group. Cataclysm was our first complete expansion as a guild. We started dabbling in only a couple heroics at first then finished strong as Saviors of Azeroth (8/8H) with completed Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider. About halfway through Cata, we expanded to a second team that ended the expansion at 6/8H.
Prior to WoD, we focused primarily on 10m raiding & fielded multiple teams for years. In Legion, we swapped to 20man raiding and finished with all AOTCs plus 5/11M Antorus, 3/9M ToS, 4/10M NH, 4/7M EN. While we were a semi-hardcore group then, starting in BfA and onwards we’ve taken a slightly less demanding approach, focusing on heroic raiding (with some mythic possible) as well as dungeons. In Shadowlands we cleared: 11/11H Sepulcher; 10/10H Sanctum; 2/10M Castle Nathria.
Currently in Dragonflight we are: 2/8M Vault of the Incarnates, 9/9H Aberrus, 1/9M Amirdrassil.

Guild Ranks
The Metalocalypse's guild ranking is purely for structural purposes as we are all equals here. For the curious, our ranks are as follows:
Guild Master - Nathan Explosion
Senior Officer - Toki, Pickles, Skwisgar
Senior Officer Alt - Murderface
Officer - Dethdouble
Raider - Klokateer
Veteran - Asleepsinbloods
Should a Veteran wish to advance further, their performance will be put under evaluation, and they are expected to also have good attendance for at least two weekly lockouts (4 raids total) before becoming a Klokateer.
Member - Wayward Kitty
Initiate / Probation - Fattydingdongs
Initiates are given a trial period to determine whether they are a right fit for the guild. This rank is eligible for promotions after one week of active membership.
