Charter
Part of the reason behind our guild's success is the structure and leadership. Since early 2010, The Metalocalypse has provided a home for mature players who want to tackle end-game content in an enjoyable atmosphere. Integrity, fairness, and camaraderie are highly valued here, as we believe in "people over purples".
All members, prospective recruits and current members alike, are expected to not only understand but respect our policies. Together, with a clear vision, we can make this guild more than simply text under your name, but also a happy home in Azeroth.
I. General Policies
A. Behavior
If there is a problem, try to resolve it maturely in a private conversation or contact an officer without bringing it to guild chat. Drama llamas will not be tolerated. You may also report any issues you see by opening a ticket via the "help desk" channel on discord (click "Report").
Keep in mind your behavior is a representation of the guild. Members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the guild, especially in public such as trade chat or pugs.
B. Character Membership
We require mains to join before admitting alts. A "main" is the best, most powerful character a player has on their account(s) as well as the character that gets the most time and devotion of that player.
"Friends/Family Invites" are available provided there is a connection to an active member. This would be for the purpose of enriching the community and is not a guaranteed raid spot, but F&F members may apply later to join the raid team.
Specs are chosen by the individual when applying to the guild or in preparation for a new expansion. Should a raider wish to change their role, he/she should contact the Raid Leader.
For raiders, if one would like to change characters, the new main should be at least caught up to the previous main.
C. Guild Bank
The bank is there to pool resources and help each other, not for personal profit/storage. Take what you need for upgrades, profession leveling, etc.
The Klokateer (Raider) tab is meant for supplies used for active raiders only and not for alts.
D. Chat
Please try to keep guild chat classy. Profanity and mature conversation are fine considering we are 21+; in fact, we appreciate TWSS's, innuendos, etc. However, it is your responsibility to not make others uncomfortable. No hateful speech about race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc.
No begging/harassment or meter spamming.
Members not in the dungeon/raid are asked not to interrupt the groups on voice chat that are using the dungeon/raid channels.
Limit your whispers to raiders (during raids) to what is necessary. This applies to the entire team, especially Raid Leaders and Officers.
E. Leaving
You should know that you can talk to the officers about anything. We're all adults here and are always willing to work things out.
If for whatever reason you feel we are no longer a good fit, be polite about it. Leaving in the middle of the night without saying anything not only makes you look bad but may make you undesirable to other guilds.
Any current raiders leaving a team permanently or wanting to step down from raider to casual MUST inform an officer at least 1 week in advance. We understand if schedules change or it simply didn't work out, but there's no reason to punish your peers who are counting on you.
Generally, any former members wishing to rejoin the ranks will start in the Initiate rank regardless of previous rank status (and may need to reapply, depending on the circumstances).
II. Raiding Policies/Expectations
A. Attendance
Here at TM, 100% attendance is not required as our schedule is designed for busy adults with limited playtime. However, to provide a more reliable raiding environment, we aim to keep a healthy roster and as such, need core team members to be able to attend the majority of raids. That said, we are very flexible with people and their unique schedules or situations, but the needs of the many do outweigh the needs of the few. We believe "the show must go on" and will always do our best to make it a great one. To support this, substitutes and part-time players will be part of the team as well.
All raids will be posted on the in-game Guild Calendar. Use this tool ASAP to let us know whether you are available ("signed up") or are unsure ("tentative"). If you are tentative, you should inform the team your final answer preferably at least a day before the raid if possible. Please note that the calendar is used for scheduling and roster planning; we believe in quality groups and not "first come first served".
Raiders must be online at least 10-15 minutes before start time.
Raiders should be at the entrance to the instance before the raid.
If you know you will be late / absent, you must inform a raid leader well ahead of time.
Raiders should post on the "AFK-Forum" discord channel for day-to-day schedule changes or extended, planned absences such as vacations. If you have a scheduling issue you would prefer speaking to an officer privately, please contact Rip or Crit. Acceptable alternatives: mail, whisper, text message, or battle net app.
Missing raids will result in a loss of "raider" status in terms of loot priority for the next X number of raids (X being the number of raids missed). You of course may still receive loot that others don't need, but you'll just lose priority vs raiders in good standing. This temporary suspension of loot priority will be restored after consistent attendance and won't exceed 2 weeks.
In the event there are extra raiders available, spot priority is as follows:
Role / Composition - May change per raid / encounter.
(Appropriate) Gear - We believe gearing is an individual effort and as such, greater effort is rewarded with greater priority.
Punctuality - Being online and ready for invites takes priority over "tentative" vs "signed up". Furthermore, those with recent good attendance are prioritized over those without.
Performance - Considering the common goal is to succeed, it is in the team's best interest to form the most capable team; i.e. if a DPS can't quite do the damage required per person and there is another DPS available who can, the more able DPS should attend***. The results speak for themselves: competitive spots are a healthy way to strengthen the team and encourage self-improvement.
Attitude - Last but certainly not least, the ability to play well with others is strongly preferred. We want team-players who are generally enjoyable to be around and support a friendly atmosphere.
Basically what this means is we will attempt to form the strongest group possible from the available people. This mostly applies to progression fights, but once the boss is on "farm" we will give everyone (provided they can pull their weight) a turn at a kill and opportunity for loot.
If you are there for the first night of a raid, you are generally expected to attend the other night(s). (Exception: substitutes)
Do NOT commit unless you are positive you can attend! Emergencies are one thing, but repeatedly flaking out on your team is disrespectful and will earn you a spot as a substitute.
Real Life is more important. If something comes up, take care of it; the guild will be here when you return. If it will be a particularly long absence, post on the discord AFK channel.
***Do not be discouraged if you happen to be in such a situation! It is true we are only as strong as our weakest link, but that doesn't mean the solution is necessarily a permanent removal of said link. Instead, take it as motivation to improve for next time. Raid leaders evaluate performance after every raid and always give people a chance to prove themselves.***
B. Preparation
Arrive properly geared with all spec-appropriate improvements (enchants, gems, weapon enhancements, etc). Don't shoot for the bare minimum ilvl for raids. If upgrades are available outside of raids, you should have them or at least be working on obtaining them.
Bring all necessary consumables. If you need help, check the guild bank for mats and use the guild profession roster.
PHIALS/POTIONS -- Bring your own.
FOOD -- Feasts will be provided, but ensure you have single serving food on you (i.e., if you die).
Have addons installed and updated prior to the raid:
REQUIRED -- boss mods (we recommend DBM)
RECOMMENDED -- Angry Assignments or MRT esp for healers and classes with raid-wide cooldowns. We use this for any boss plans such as kick rotations or group assignments.
We believe in the G.I. Joe approach to raiding: knowing is half the battle. All raiders are expected to fully understand how an encounter works and the various mechanics involved BEFORE our first pull. Videos/strategies will be posted ahead of time for your convenience on the relevant discord channel, as well as any specific tactics/positioning we'll be using, but there is a wealth of information online you can research if you are unsure of fights.
Do whatever you need to do BEFORE the raid: bathroom, snacks, attend to your pets/children, beer run, etc. You can expect a group break around 11:30pm EST.
Before raiding with us, familiarize yourself with our Loot Rules.
C. During the raid
We don't just have voice chat to play drinking games; raiders must be able to at least listen to voice chat during raids. Currently we are using discord. After joining the guild, you will be invited to our server or you can also find the invite link in game under Guild Info. Make sure your name includes your main's name so we know who you are.
During boss combat, please keep voice channels clear for the raid leaders and assigned assistants. We encourage our raiders to communicate, particularly those with important roles such as healers/tanks or if doing special jobs or if something goes wrong; however, we must maintain order and avoid chaos.
Stay positive and focused. A sour attitude is infectious and affects both performance and morale; this will not be tolerated.
Recover quickly (ex: eat/buff after running back etc).
Any issues, provided they are not emergencies or pertinent to the raid, are NOT to be brought up to leadership during raid time.
Any ideas or suggestions for tactics should be discussed ahead of time. Should you feel inclined to contribute during a raid, whisper any of the officers, but understand the RL makes the final call.
While wipes are discussed by the group in between pulls, there may be feedback on an individual's performance. That said, we expect all criticism to be constructive & polite.
We learn better when everyone participates in post-wipe discussions; if you goofed up, own up to it and ask for help if you're not sure what to do next time.
Questions are encouraged so don't be afraid to speak up! Or whisper if that makes you more comfortable.
If you must go AFK, please tell the raid first.
We ask that any modifications of upgrades earned in raids are saved for group-wide breaks or after the event. If you can handle it yourself quickly without disrupting the raid or lagging behind, that's fine.
Just to see who has actually read this, the answer to the application question about rules is: Yes, but I was drunk.
III. Loot
Be aware that since Dragonflight the looting system has changed to Group Loot, and we're having everyone pass except a designated officer then handing out loot as per usual. Our loot rules (see below) are essentially "Need Before Greed", slightly modified only to promote fairness and reward effort. We see loot as a by-product of our goals, not THE end goal.
A. Raid Drops
Members of Raider ("Klokateer") rank will have priority over lower ranks, since Klokateers have demonstrated reliability and commitment to the team.
Assuming all interested members are equal ranking, Main Spec > Off Spec. Your MS/OS are the 2 specs you use in our raids.
If all Main Spec members pass, members can roll for off spec. Simply type "OS" in chat to let the team know.
If all Main Specs and Off Specs pass, the item will either be disenchanted or sold (depending on item value), both for the guild bank.
BoEs will be collected by the Officers and deposited into the guild bank to help fund guild repairs/feasts/consumables/etc., subject to the following. If a BoE item is a significant upgrade:
for the MS of a player that is present at the raid, he/she should let the Master Looter know. Anyone who can use the upgrade can roll.
for a player NOT present at the raid, he/she should contact an officer if interested in purchasing the item.
Players who have already won an upgrade during that raid night must pass the 2nd upgrade dropped to the next person that needs it. This is to ensure we spread the loot around, gear up the team more evenly, and make it more likely that players will walk away with upgrades on any given night.
If all eligible players have already won something, all get an EQUAL chance to roll.
Players who have lost "Raider" rank loot priority due to attendance automatically pass unless no other Raider can use the item. (See Charter, Raiding, Attendance).
Raiders are expected to be aware of their own stat weights / BiS list. People here often like to pass if it's a minor sidegrade for them and a major upgrade for someone else, so feel free to speak up if you want to pass something to someone who could benefit more from it.
If you're rolling for transmog, we ask that you deposit the enchanting materials in the guild bank.
